How often should I be posting on my social media channels?
The internet is a constantly changing place. There are new social media channels popping up every day, and old ones fading away. It can be hard to keep up with it all! Let’s look at how often you should be posting on your social media channels in order to grab the most attention for your brand – without being annoying or over-posting.
There’s no set rule but there is a rough guide…
As a minimum to look fresh and engaged you should be posting every week. This way you look to be active. Dormant pages can give off a really negative impression.
Some accounts might be able to post every day. This is really dependent on the type of content you share and how often it changes.
The more posts, the higher chance that someone will see one from you in their feed or in a search result.
The best bet is to post between 3-4 times a week. This is time consuming though and if you want to get it right you need to spend the time creating content that’s engaging.
It’s not just about quantity though…
Posting too much without anything interesting has the opposite effect and people will start to unfollow you.
It’s important to mix up the types of content that you share, so people don’t get bored and to create a cohesive theme in the account. That’s why some accounts might only post once every other week, or even less. Quality over quantity everytime.
Your content should always be a mix. You can post entertaining meme’s that will make your audience laugh or informative video-based tutorials. You could write an opinion blog about current events effecting your audience or even take the time to put together an informative quiz! Variety is key for engagement, so don’t forget it!
Social media can be a difficult beast to tame. You need to become a content generating powerhouse to get true value. Yet when you have the right content, and create enough of it, your engagement will grow exponentially.
